Marlo McKenzie believes that story can change the world, and to create a better world we must first be able to imagine it.

Her latest documentary, MY SECRET COUNTRY premiered this summer at the San Francisco Documentary Festival and has since received several distinctions, including Best Feature Documentary at the San Diego International Kids Film Festival, Best Documentary North America at the Kids International Family Film Festival, and an Honorable Mention at the Atlanta Children’s Film Festival. The movie was featured in The New York Times, highlighted alongside John Krasinski’s IF as a collection of films about imaginary friends.

She also co-wrote, co-directed, produced and served as director of photography on CAROL DODA TOPLESS AT THE CONDOR. The film had its World Premiere at the Telluride Film Festival before a theatrical release by Picturehouse. 

Prior to that she she collaborated with the Oscar-nominated, Emmy-winning team at Concentric Media to produce BUTTERFLY TOWN USA that is still airing on PBS stations. She also worked on a four-part documentary series called STANDING ON SACRED GROUND. 

 

In her spare time she enjoys reading, meditating, visiting museums and hiking in nature.
